Imperial Lieutenants

Imperial Lieutenants were servants of the Wizard King of the Tenth Age, later the Tyrant of the Eleventh Age. These men and women were among the most trusted and powerful individuals of the First Empire, given extreme latitude and absolute authority within their demesne of influence. Each was assigned a tract of land – or a World, in some cases – upon which they could act with the voice of the Wizard King.

Although records of actual dealings and events are scarce, scholars have determined that there were 20 Imperial Lieutenants mentioned in surviving documents from the Eleventh Age. Ten Imperial Lieutenants were assigned to regions affiliated with Aithir; three were assigned to regions of Sidhe taken in battle from Ilyandralas, the Sidhe Queen; three were assigned to three duchies in The Fade granted as reparations from the Shadowed Duke after a failed assassination attempt upon the Wizard King; three were set to guard against the encroachments of Infernus; and one was assigned to The City of Countless Doorways.

One Lieutenant, Whispers of Lost Glory, was recorded as lost during the Eleventh Age. He was one of the three Lieutenants assigned to guard against the encroachments of Infernus.
